Payment and Refund Policy
Last updated: 4 October 2026.
Scope of the Policy and Services Covered
This Payment and Refund Policy applies to all bookings and purchases made through mediariffx for specialised courses in live production decks and control rooms. These services include training in multi-camera switching, live broadcasting techniques, real-time video operation, and professional management of television and streaming productions. The policy covers both individual course enrolments and bundled training packages delivered in the United Kingdom. It governs the financial relationship between participants and mediariffx from the point of booking until completion or cancellation.
Prices, Currencies, Taxes and Additional Charges
All course fees are quoted in British Pounds Sterling. Prices include applicable Value Added Tax at the current UK rate unless stated otherwise. Additional charges may apply for optional extras such as printed course materials, certification fees or extended access to recorded sessions. Any such extras are clearly itemised before payment is authorised. mediariffx reserves the right to adjust prices for future bookings but will honour the price quoted at the time of confirmed enrolment.
Accepted Payment Methods, Authorisation and Security
Payments are accepted via major credit and debit cards, bank transfer and approved digital wallets. All transactions are processed through secure third-party payment gateways that comply with PCI DSS standards. Authorisation occurs immediately upon submission of payment details. mediariffx does not store full card numbers. In the event of a payment dispute, participants should contact their card issuer in the first instance while also notifying mediariffx via the contact details below.
Order Confirmation and Contract Formation
A binding contract is formed when mediariffx issues a written confirmation email following receipt of full payment or a valid booking request. This confirmation outlines the course dates, venue or access details, and total amount paid. Until this confirmation is received, no contract exists and any provisional reservation may be cancelled without penalty. Participants are advised to retain the confirmation email for their records.
Cancellation Rights and Applicable Periods
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, participants have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date of contract formation during which they may cancel without providing a reason. For digital or online course elements, the right to cancel may be lost once access has been granted if the participant has expressly consented to immediate performance. In-person or live-streamed sessions may be cancelled with written notice, subject to the timeframes set out in later sections.
Refund Eligibility, Exclusions and Non-Refundable Items
Refunds are available for cancellations made within the 14-day cooling-off period, provided no substantial course content has been accessed. Full refunds are also granted if mediariffx cancels a course due to insufficient enrolment or unforeseen circumstances. No refund is available for cancellations made after course commencement, for non-attendance without prior notice, or for failure to meet course prerequisites that were clearly stated beforehand. Deposits paid to secure limited places are non-refundable once the cooling-off period has expired.
Step-by-Step Procedure to Request a Refund
To request a refund, participants must submit a written request by email to [email protected] or by post to Beaconsfield Studios, Station Road, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, HP9 1LG. The request must include the full name used at booking, order reference number, date of booking, and a clear statement of the reason for cancellation. Supporting evidence, such as medical certificates where applicable, should be attached. Requests received outside office hours will be processed on the next working day.
Inspection, Approval, Rejection and Notification
Upon receipt, mediariffx will acknowledge the request within five working days. Each application is reviewed against the eligibility criteria outlined above. Participants will be notified of the decision in writing within 14 days. If rejected, the notification will explain the specific reason and any options for appeal or alternative arrangements such as course transfer.
Refund Method, Processing Time and Receipt of Funds
Approved refunds are returned using the original payment method wherever possible. Processing typically takes between five and ten working days after approval, although bank transfers or certain card issuers may require up to 30 days for funds to appear in the participant account. mediariffx will provide a refund confirmation once the transaction has been initiated.
Special Rules for Digital Content, Subscriptions and Promotional Offers
Digital course materials and recorded sessions are treated as digital content. Access is granted only after the cooling-off period or with explicit consent to waive cancellation rights. Subscription-style access to ongoing live sessions is billed in advance and may be cancelled at the end of the current billing period. Promotional offers and discounted places are subject to the same refund rules unless the offer explicitly states otherwise. Early-bird rates are non-refundable after the promotional window closes.
Failed Payments, Duplicate Charges, Chargebacks and Suspected Fraud
In the event of a failed payment, enrolment is suspended until the outstanding amount is settled. Duplicate charges will be investigated and refunded promptly upon verification. Chargebacks or disputes raised without first contacting mediariffx may result in additional administrative fees where permitted by law. Any suspected fraudulent activity will be reported to the relevant authorities and may lead to immediate account suspension.
Mandatory Consumer Rights in the United Kingdom
This policy does not affect any rights participants have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 or other applicable UK legislation. These rights cannot be excluded or limited by contract. In particular, participants retain the right to receive services of satisfactory quality and to remedies where services do not conform to the description provided at the time of booking.
